Good news from Iraqi Kurdistan

Followup to an earlier posting on freedom of speech in Iraqi Kurdistan: One of the Iraqi Kurds who had been detained for speaking out in a way that the political parties there found offensive has, according to KurdishMedia.com, been released.

The article says that "The agnecy added the Nichirvan Barzani, The prime minister of the Kurdish Regional Government, issued a pardon for Dr Kamal Sayid Qadir, citing international pressure to release the writer." Any idea if that pressure was from Western governments or from letters like the ones you asked people to send?
