Off to Amsterdam

The conference is over and Im finishing up some editing and writing in the astonishing heat of a major Middle Eastern city (who would have thought it would be so hot in August?) before heading to Amsterdam for the Reason conference.

Last night my Jordanian friends took me out to a boat where I got to see quite expert belly dancing and Sufi dancing. I was astonished at the expertise and the elegance of both. (I’d post photos, but my camera battery was dead. Ack!)

I have seen that too - it is fantastic! You should also see Mevlana dancing (another type of Sufis in Konya, Turkey). I am sure you know, but for those who don't, it is actually way of worshipping thru dancing and music and lyrics. But usually tourists enjoy it as a different type of dancing.

It was absolutely astonishing. I"ve never seen anything quite like it. Verbal descriptions don't do it justice.
