December 11, 2007I Gave InDespite my pledge (largely fulfilled) to be more frugal, I bought an Amazon Kindle and have loaded it with (mainly inexpensive) books. I need to cut down on the numbers of books I take with me on trips, as they’re so damn heavy. So far, I really (really) like it. I’ve subscribed to the Washington Post and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and it’s nice to be able to read them (albeit without photos) without having to go out and buy a big paper. I’ve got some big trips coming up and it will be nice to take a lot of good books with me in a very small and very light package that’s a lot easier to read than a PDF on a computer screen. It looks like an amazing toy, byt with one huge shortcoming: it doesn't allow highlighting. So, if I see something really important on one page, how can I remember it? Posted by: at December 12, 2007 8:02 AMApparently you *can* highlight passages. You can also "clip" passages and save them, and you can bookmark pages so you can return to them later. See Amazon's Kindle page: Scroll down to the section labeled "Bookmarks and Annotation." Wow, then this is the greatest toy since the iPod.
